It is not enough to simply have good gameplay but one must also have great story. Ship to ship combat had nothing more complicated than turning your ship and shooting at the proper angle. The reception of these games was just awful and the company declared bankruptcy. Kalypso moved in and bought most of the properties from Ascaron including Patrician Tropico Disciples Darkstar One and Port Royale. They created Tropico 3 and 4 both of which were big successes.
